Last night my Kobo reset to factory on startup. I have reconnected to my computer (same one that I was previously using for my Kobo, and Windows 7) Went through the setup process. Both my computer and the Kobo are authorized on ADE. ADE recognizes my Kobo and I can right click over a title and send it to my Kobo. On the left hand menu my Kobo is listed as a device and my books show as being in my Kobo library. When I eject the Kobo, they are not in my Kobo Library.
What am I missing?
I installed OSX Yosemite and Adobe Digital Edition 4.0.
Since then I cannot import new books (from Kobo) and I cannot see anymore the books, which I bought earlier.
The error message is:
Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:
E_ACT_NOT_READY
I tried to solve the problem by de- and reauthorization.
However, this was impossible. The program did not recognize my password. A new password did not help.

Had a chat about this with the Adobe people. They had me reauthorize
and trash the file activation.dat. be sur you authorize with the right vendor id. I thought i had to use Overdrive's but found that i had to do it with Adobe's.

Where is this file? I found similar files by opening the ADE package, but none of them with the name activation.dat.
.When I try to erase my authorization of my computer it keeps saying, ""unable to erase authorization. Try again after sometime"

Here's the full situation....
- I used to use an old adobe ID, to an email address I won't have anymore.
- I unauthorized my computer, then uninstalled Adobe ADE. I even removed a folder from the registry, on Kobo's instructions.
- I reinstalled Adobe ADE, then authorized it with the NEW adobe ID.
- Since the books still wouldn't work, I contacted Kobo (several times).
- Kobo reauthorized my account to work with the new adobe ID.
- I was able to download about half of my books and have them work with the new adobe ID...but the other half still don't work, and are still getting the E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER error.
- I discussed this with Kobo (again) and they said my account shows it should work for those books, and I should contact Adobe.
- I chatted with someone on the Adobe chat, who told me how to authorize my computer (which has definitely been done, with the new ID), and then they sent me to these forums.
So.... can anyone help me? I have nearly 500 books with Kobo...I tried downloading 70 of them, and 39 of them didn't work, whereupon I decided I'd better find more help.

I keep getting this message. Then tried to deactivate authorization (several times) so I can reactivate and it refuses to deactivate. So I can't download any library books.

Habe mein Passwort schon zurücksetzen lassen und neu eingegeben und die Fehlermeldung bleibt.
Solangsam werde ich doch ziemlich böse, da mich so ein umständlicher Weg tierisch nervt!!!!

Ok, I tried both and both of the proposed solutions did not work: I could not deactivate my computer authorization (I was asked to try it later) and de-installing and re-installing ADE didn't work either. Any additional idea?

I have also tried one more time to uninstall Adobe ADE and reinstall, still no luck. 83 out of 140 books (so far) haven't downloaded.
Forgot to mention, I'm on Windows 8.1, using Adobe ADE Version 3, since I heard Kobo doesn't work with the newest version. I will be putting these on my Kobo Glo, but not until I can get everything downloaded to begin with. : )

It was in
/Users/Doug/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions
I had to use Terminal to remove it since Spotlight couldn't find it.
that is on the command line in Terminal type:
rm /Users/Doug/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital
Editions/activation.dat
Substitute your login for Doug in the above path.

I couldn't erase authorization either. I followed instructions on this page to remove Adobe registry key. Once that was removed I could finally re-authorize my computer with an alternate Adobe ID. Can finally read books.
