Authorization and Activation
I'm trying to download an ebook from Freading. At first ADE said that something was not activated. I then removed authorization and tried to reauthorize ADE, but now it won't connect to the internet. What should I do?

WHAT DO I HAVE TO D TO GET AN TO A QUESTION??? THIS IS ABOUT THE FIFTH TIME I HAVE ASKED IT TONIGHT! SINCE I INSTALLED 4.0 IN MY COMPUTER I CAN DO ABOUT EVERY THING EXCEPT WHEN I BORROW A BOOK AND TRY TO COPY IT TO MY NOOK, I GET THE ERROR MESSAGR CE_CAN_NOT_COPY no permission.

Please check the following:
1. Open the file in Adobe Digital Editions.
2. Go to File -> Item Info
Check under permissions, Copying permission

Re: I cannot authorize my computer for Adobe Digital Editions
I get a Connection Error warning. "Digital Editions could not connect to the activation server. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet." I have had to wipe my computer clean and reinstall all programs. I now cannot download books without getting this error. I am using Google Chrome and have an active ID and password with Adobe. I tried the ctrl-shift-d but it did not work. Any suggestions would help. Thank you.

Please check the following:
1. Open the file in Adobe Digital Editions.
2. Go to File -> Item Info

After doing a lot more reading on this forum, I found the answer to my problem. I uninstalled ADE Version 4.0 and installed ADE Version 3 and I was able to authorize my computer and download books to my Kobo. I'm not sure if this will help with any other problems on this thread.

Re: activation server error
I had wiped my computer clean and reinstalled all my programs including ADE 4.0. I kept getting the activation error. I followed your advice and I uninstalled ADE version 4 and installed Version 3. Everything is working AOK. I was able to authorize my computer and download books. I wish I'd have seen your "fix" hours ago - it would have saved a lot of hair pulling and teeth gnashing!! ADE doesn't recognize Kobo Touch
I am running ADE on a Dell Inspiron17, with Windows 8.1 and when I connect the Kobo to the PC it isn't recognized by the ADE so transfer to the Touch isn't possible. How can I correct this?

Can you please provide information about your OS (win/Mac) and OS version?
Adobe has just released new version of Adobe Digital Editions which includes fixes for kobo related crashes.

I have the same problem and it's VERY frustrating. When I check the item info it says the book is licensed to me and that I have permission to view and copy to any device. And yet when i try it says i don't have permission. help!!!

Adobe Digital Editions App Crashes
The app crashes whenever I try to open the book I just downloaded. I saw in other questions that the latest version can't handle some file types correctly but is there a link to a previous version of the app?
