Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: W_ADEPT_CORE_EXPIRED

I updated digital editions from 2.0 to 4.5.10. Now I cannot open a book I purchased. (ACSM file). I get the following error message: Error getting License. License server communication problem: W_ADEPT_CORE_EXPIRED. How can I get my book back? BTW using Mac OS X 10.14

I downloaded two .acsm files about 2 weeks ago and they opened fine on Digital Editions, but now it keeps showing this error:

I deleted the book in ADE and removed it from the Documents / Digital Editions folder. Then I deleted the preference file (com.adobe.DigitalEditions.plist) from Library / Preferences. For me (on iMac w/ macOS Mojave), that did the trick.

Digital Editions syncing but not the bookshelves

When I got a new computer I synced DE on the new one and the books I had was synced but not the bookshelves so now I had to manually make new bookshelves and put each book in the right bookshelf. Why is this? Most of the books were borrowed but expired books but I like to keep them so I can easily remember them if I want to re-read them (childrens books are often re-read). The books also have lost their pictures that still existed on the old computer although they were expired.

 

Why don't the bookshelves synd although the books do?

Is there a problem with borrowed and/or expired bookd?

* Not all borrowed book show up as "borrowed"

* under "purchased" a lot of borrowed books show up

Library books not opening in Kobo

My kobo is repeatedly error messaging me that my books downloaded from the library are protected by DRM - I have been trying to import them in using ADE4.5 in my iMac. I have spent over 8 hours on this issue and tried every suggestion in the Help forum, the most recent forum being dated 2017 from Adobe developers. I have a Kobo H2O.

 

Is it time to upgrade my Kobo? Library books have never transferred over easily, so frankly I'm not sure if I want to go down the Kobo path again if this issue has not been fixed. This time despite my best efforts I absolutely cannot get it to work.

 

Is there a local store we can the eReaders to so a technician can have a look? Or some sort of refund/replacement scheme for this issue?

Sync, de-authorisation and authorisation issues

I have had some issues with AdobeID and ADE (macOS ver. 4.5.1 and 3.0 AND iOS version for iPhone).

 

 

  • Sync seemed to only work on my iPhone and not my Mac (some books were missing on my Mac; and books in my library started duplicating: I had 4 some, 2 of others, 1 of few and some missing).
  • I tried to “Erase Authorization”

 

    • On Mac it returned: “Your password is incorrect.” (although it wasn’t)
    • Later it returned: “Unable to Erase Authorization. Please try after some time.” (tried again later without any more luck)
    • So I tried to do it on my iPhone. Alas it returned: “There is an error with your username/password combination. Enter the correct combination and try again.” (my credentials worked fine when logging in to Adobe Reader/adobe.com)
    • I searched the forums and tried:

    If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps (Mac):

    1. Go-> Go to folder.
    2. Go to folder dialog will appear.
    3. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions
    4. drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

    ADE will be deauthorized now.

    Now Authorize ADE again.

    • But it didn’t work. Now I can’t authorize my computer anymore (“Incorrect login ID or password for the selected eBook vendor. Please try again.”).
      • So I tried:
    1. Delete the registry key as described.
    2. Uninstall Adobe Digital Editions 4.5.
    3. Restart.
    4. Install Adobe Digital Editions 3.0.
    5. Run Digital Editions 3.0.
    6. Press 'ctrl' + 'shift' + 'd'. This will deauthorise the computer.
    7. Uninstall 3.0.
    8. Install 4.5, run, re-authorise.
    • But again, it didn’t work (the computer wasn’t authorised so I couldn’t reauthorise, and when trying to authorise it just returned: “Incorrect login ID or password for the selected eBook vendor. Please try again.”
    • I also tried to uninstall the app and all associated data on my iPhone and now I can’t authorise ADE on my phone either (“Username or password is incorrect”).
    • I have tried changing password to my Adobe-account and still no luck.

     

    So now I turn to the forums and hopefully Adobe-staff who can help me with (or other helpful users who can shed light on the issues and possible solutions):

    • Deauthorizing all ADE devices associated with my AdobeID.
    • If anything else is needed before I can authorise a new device let me know.
    • Explain and help me with the duplicates and ensure that all devices sync as intended.

    In my Vendor ID box my only choice is Adobe, I have entered my email address and a changed password and get an error msg that says The vendor acct you opened is not associated with the item you are trying to open.  Any suggestions?

    I also have been told that my Adobe ID was used to authorize a previous device, but that isn't true. Can I have this resolved as well? Thank you.

    Don't think it's a problem with Kobo. I just bought KOBO Clara HD last week and have spent numerous hours on transferring library books to Kobo. ADE freezes every single time. It is extremely frustration.

     

    Hope someone could guide me through this before I return the Kobo.

    E_ACT_TOO_MANY_ACTIVATIONS

    I can access Digital Editions via the Windows Program but when I use the Android app I get the error message:

    'E_ACT_TOO_MANY_ACTIVATIONS'

     

    I have gone to the following help page and it says to contact Adobe to get the activation count reset

    E_ACT_TOO_MANY_ACTIVATIONS error in Adobe Digital Editions

    Turns out this is a windows 10 issue. When printing to the same printer from a windows 7 machine, the issue is resolved. when printing to the printer from a windows 10 machine, the issue occurs. Still no fix in place as of now but at least we now know the issue is with windows 10 (what else is new?)

    Hallo,

    Nachdem ich eine neue Festplatte ins Notebook bekommen habe, funktioniert Digital Editions nicht mehr. Bücher lassen sich nicht öffnen. Es kommt die Fehlermeldung: "Error. Check activation."

     

    Gescheiterte Lösungsversuche:

    1.) Konto deaktivieren und neu aktivieren, > das Konto lässt sich nicht deaktivieren. Selbe Fehlermeldung "Error. Check activation."

    2.) Software komplett deinstallieren und neu installieren > der Fehler taucht unverändert auf.

     

    Wer kann mir weiterhelfen?

    1) Schließ alle Programme von Adobe.

    2) Drück die Tasten [Windows] + [R] gleichzeitig.

    3) Geb hier "regedit" (ohne die " ") ein und drück enter.

    4) Lösch hier den Ordner HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Adept.

    5) Start die Software und autorisieren das Programm neu.
