Our library (Hampshire, UK) initially only supported Adobe DRM format for loans.

They now seem to support Overdrive Read as well, I think that is for reading direct from the browser?

No sign of any Kindle support.

It seems lots of US public libraries support Kindle, but not many UK ones.  Where are you?

 

My main concern with Adobe is that they provide this relatively 'open' infrastructure,

but their support for it is absolutely atrocious; replacing second-rate ADE 1.7.2 with third-rate (fourth-rate?) ADE 2.0 and 2.0.1.

I'm in the US.  My local library support Kindle with Overdrive downloads.

Color Nook copy error message

When I tried to drag my library book into my nook I get an error that says that allowed to copy.  I have been copying books from digital editions to my nook for a couple of years so I'm don't know why I am getting this error message all of a sudden.

 

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you for your help sjpt, but no luck with ADE 1.7.2. Same problem.


I may try again starting from scratch... maybe with another account... maybe after calling Kobo... or will simply avoid DRM-protected content on the reader until all stakeholders figure out how to better integrate the various bits and pieces for a seamless end-user experience.

Problems downloading to ADE

I am trying to download an ebook from my library but it will not download on to ADE. The error window states 'Unable to download - Error Getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER.'

This problem began after I had to reinstall ADE due to other computer issues that I had. Any idea how to fix it?

Problema nel download ebook

Ho un problema nell'effettuare i download di tutti i miei ebook comprati su IBS sul mio tablet Android.

Al momento di effettuare il download, mi appare un messaggio in cui mi chiede di autorizzare il download del libro con il mio account adobe.

Quando inserisco le mie credenziali mi viene riportato un messaggio di errore che indica che il libro è stato acquistato con un differente ID nonostante io abbia solo questo ID in uso.

 

L'unica cosa che ho fatto è stata cambiare la password come richiesto per problemi di sicurezza in una vostra mail.

Contattando il personale di IBS, mi è stato detto che le sicurezze degli ebook sono veriifcate sia sull'account che sulla password, per cui ho provato a ripristinare la vecchia password ma il sistema non me lo fa fare.

 

Soluzioni in merito?

One possible reason is that authorization on ADE has got corrupted.  See (1) below.

Also, try to drag the book onto the Nook using your file namager (eg Windows Explorer) and see if the Nook is able to read it.

 

Another is that you have hit a bug in ADE2.0/2.0.1 (see 2 below).

This might be that it recently got installed to replace an earlier version,

or because so other change in your system has stirred an ADE bug and caused it to stop working properly.

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.

Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.

Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.

A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.

 

 

This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).

Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.

 

 

In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0

 

 

2) ~~~~~~~~~

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.

(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)

Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically. 

It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.

Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Try dragging the book (.epub or .pdf file, not the .acsm) from the computer to the Nook using your file manager,

and seeing if you can read it then.

I purchased an epub book through infibeam and opened it through adobe digital edition after registering and authotrising computer. Where can i see that bthe epub book is registered to me?

If you have selected it in ADE Library view, or are reading it in ADE Reading view,

then ctrl-I (cmd-I on Mac;or menu/File/Item Info) should give information including about your license.

CS3 and OSX 10.6.8 not working

I know its old but I am retired from business and can't now afford the constant upgrades, CS3 illustrator asked me to reinstall the sofware from disk which i did with all the right codes and previous version codes etc. activated it as it asked and it confirmed to me it was a success but now it looks like its loading, goes through to the welcome page with what sort of job do you wantt to do and then a blank white window comes up which can only be minimised, but all menus are greyed out and I can only force quit it.. any ideas anybody?

 

Adobe chat wouldnt help said it (or I was it me they meant ) was too old! I said it was expenisve for us retired folk to keep updating like we did when we worked....
